Picture books are windows into unknown worlds for children. They are also mirrors reflecting the children themselves. In this session, we will consider how to use picture books to enhance classroom learning, to explore our diverse Jewish world and to delve more deeply into the values that we hold dear. We will consider different methods of introducing picture books, how to utilize a picture book as more than just an introduction or lesson supplement and how to build a lesson plan from a picture book. Numerous picture books, both Jewish and secular, will be introduced and participants will leave with a resources for choosing picture books in the future. The session will be interactive and workshop oriented. Come ready to explore!
