Jewish Placemaking: Exploring Jewish Text for Empathy Building

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Jewish Placemaking is the pedagogy in development at Makom Community's Lab School in Philadelphia. When our learners engage with Jewish wisdom from a place of personal relevance, joy, and a deep willingness to question and challenge, both the learners and the text are transformed. We will share the guiding principles for Jewish Placemaking, invite you in to experience text study for empathy as a participant, and ask you to reflect on what you’ve learned and how this modality could be powerful in your setting. Come ready to play, question, and add your voice to the long line of interpreters of Jewish tradition. This session will provide you a framework to strengthen text in your schools, at faculty meetings, and for engaging families.
