In this session we will take a close look at the child/teen transition that happens around the coming of age ritual, we call Bar/t Mitzvah. Why do we teach them the things that we do? How do we understand the role of Mitzvot in the process? What role does the ceremony play in the life of the child and their extended family? Why is this event so important in the Jewish identity of a child and their family? How can we best support the teen and their family during the preparation and on the day of their becoming a Bar/t Mitzvah. This session is geared toward Bar/t Mitzvah tutors, cantors, rabbis and teen professionals and anyone with a child about to become a Bar Mitzvah.
