Teaching with Radical Amazement: Celebrating Children’s Thinking as a Foundation for Planning

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

As a partner to the children in their learning, the teacher’s way of being and “seeing” is significant and impactful. How do we enter moments with presence, awakened to the possibilities? How do we find the extraordinary in the ordinary? Using examples from the classroom, through a constructivist, Reggio-inspired lens, and with a foundation in the Jewish lens of Hitorerut/Awakening, we will discuss the role of the teacher in recognizing key moments in the children’s dialogues and actions, reacting with joy, wonder, and engagement to the insights and theories of the children, and marveling with children as they research the world around them.
